We began our convocation this evening at Swan Lake Resort and Conference Center. Every other year, the Diocese of Gary comes here for continuing education for the clergy.
We have fifty-two people participating in this year’s convocation. The conference will address “Missionary Discipleship,” with the theme of “The Priest as Missionary: Practical Strategies for Parish Life.” There will be nine topic areas addressed, including:
- The Urgency of Mission Today.
- Beyond the Jargon – Getting the Mission Right.
- Right Thing at the Right Time – A Roadmap for Mission.
- I Am a Mission – The Priest as Missionary Disciple.
- No Solo Discipleship – Forming a Parish Mission Team.
- Hope for the Future – On Mission to Young Adults.
- It’s Not a Program – The Art of Accompaniment.
- A Missionary Toolbox – Specific Strategies and Tools for Mission
- Go and Make Disciples – Witness to the Power of Mission
Our first session this evening set the tone for the rest of the week. It’s going to be a busy one . . . these guys mean business! 🙂
The accommodations are quite nice. Here is a picture of what my room looks like:
We will be here until Thursday afternoon. See you at the end of the week!
