I’ve been to Malaga, Spain a few times in the past on other transatlantic cruises. Because of that, I did not pay for any shore excursion. I decided that I was going to go it on my own. I am sooooo very glad I made that decision because I would have lost the money I put on the excursion when I canceled at the last minute.
I remember a year when Malaga was having record heat. Today, on the other hand, was extremely cold and rainy all day. There was no way I was leaving the ship just to get soaked and cold and risk getting sick. So, I stayed on board.
When I finished breakfast, instead of leaving the ship, I went to one of the lounges on board and read a book. After an hour or so, I came back to my stateroom only to find this:
I was really surprised, to say the least. There was no card at all with the decorations so I will need to find who arranged to have my room decorated for my birthday. Until I can find out to thank that person, kindly allow me to say “Thank You” on this blog page. 🙂
Tonight, I’m signed up for the Comedy Shop show. However, it’s at 9:15 p.m. and I do not know if I am going to last that long. I might skip it. Then again, I might not. You never know how I’ll feel then. Tomorrow, I will be seeing the matinee of Hairspray and the Headliner show, “Hector is Magic”.
ADDENDUM: I did go to the comedy show. Probably should have skipped it. Way too much inappropriate language. Now, I’m not a prude and any of my friends, sadly, could tell you that. However, I think there’s a big difference using foul language when it makes some comedic sense versus someone just slinging a log of foul language and situations around just because they can. There were some good laughs in the show but a lot of the material was unnecessary.
My appetizer for dinner tonight was the french onion soup. This cauldron of bubbly goodness was brought to my table. I think it had the equivalent of a cheese plate inside. Ooey, gooey goodness.
This evening at dinner, my wait staff surprised me with a birthday cake after the meal. Even though I haven’t been ordering desserts, I ate it. It was mighty fudgy and mighty good.
Tonight, at approximately 10:00 p.m., we will pass through the Straits of Gibraltar and then head out into the open Atlantic Ocean on our way to Florida. Tomorrow is the first of nine sea days. I am looking forward to each and every one of them!
g’night, all
