Wonderful News!

I have always struggled with my weight.  I have reconciled myself to the fact that it will be a lifelong fight and one that I will probably lose.  Eating healthy has always been a huge problem for me because, well, because I like stuff that isn’t good for you!

But, after seeing this news, I vow to eat healthy the rest of my days.  As long as I can have my salad, I should be all right.

This afternoon was registration for the conference.  We had a social gathering at 6:00 p.m. and they  began serving a dinner buffet at 6:15 p.m.  I went to dinner earlier, though, because I was scheduled to hear confessions at 7:00 p.m. and didn’t want to eat too fast. (Originally, they were not going to begin serving util 6:30 p.m.)

Confessions were, by the way, a “labor of love”.  They were pretty much non-stop, which is good.  However, they were set up in the chapel.  You walked into the room and faced a kneeler.  The penitent could kneel for confession.  The priest sat in a chair with his back to the kneeler.  If the person wanted to go face-to-face, he or she would walk around the priest and sit in a chair facing him.

Why was it a labor of love?  Well, we are all marked by our past, are we not.  When I was at the prison, I was trained over and over again not to allow anyone to approach my back without looking.  That was dangerous.  Still, after all these years, I get the heebie-jeebies whenever anyone comes up to me from behind.  Ah, well, my state of unsettledness was for a good cause.

We have three people from our diocese entering the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre this year.  I am really excited for them!
