No, not baseball. Funerals.
I had the early Mass this morning (6:30 a.m.) That meant that I was up at 4:15 a.m. and over to the offices at 5:00 a.m. to open the chapel doors, set up for Mass, and then get to my office to get some work done.
After the Mass, Deacon Joe and I went out for breakfast. This week, we were joined by Deacon Napoleon and his wife Lynn. It was a nice breakfast at Sophia’s. From there, it was back to the parish.
I had a funeral at 10:30 a.m. and then another funeral at 12:00 Noon. After the Noon funeral, we (Fr. Declan, our school president, and our school principal) were getting ready to go to our weekly lunch meeting to discuss what’s going on in the school. We were supposed to leave about 1:00 p.m. but left a little bit later because I was fielding a couple of important phone calls from the Pastoral Center. (My “other life” was impinging upon me.)
That other life kept me going all afternoon. To be honest, I’m pooped right now. After I post this, I’m going to rest a while and then hit the sack. Tomorrow will be a busy day that will end later in the evening than usual. I’ll talk about that tomorrow.
For now, no more talk. No more writing. Just a little recliner time! See you tomorrow.
