My day off started like any other Wednesday. I woke up a little after 4:00 a.m., was at the office at 5:00 a.m. after unlocking the church for the morning Mass, had the morning Mass at 6:30 a.m., and then went to breakfast with Deacon Joe after Mass.
What was not a usual occurrence, though recently it has been, was that I also had a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. After the funeral, I stayed in the office for another hour finishing up some work and then headed to the house to relax.
This evening, I went with a few people to a local restaurant — Theo’s — for dinner. We had a great time. By the time I got back home, it was a couple hours past when I usually slow down to sleep so I’m pretty beat. I’m glad that I don’t have a morning Mass on Thursdays. I’m not going to set an alarm and I’m going to allow myself to sleep until whenever I get up. (That means, in all likelihood, that I will be up by 7:00 a.m. 🙂 )
So, off to sleep. More tomorrow. Actually, dinner with another friend tomorrow evening.
