This morning, the school bands hosted their annual Christmas concert for the school community. Last night was the concert for the public. The next day, they always do a concert for their schoolmates. I always go to the school concert.
Several years ago, someone asked me why I never went to the evening concert. My answer has always remained the same: because their parents attend. 🙂
Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t avoid the concert because of their parents. It’s just that the students are usually really keyed up performing for family. They are nervous and do not appear to enjoy themselves as much. The next morning, however, they are more relaxed. They already have the “real” concert under their belts and they can let loose and have fun performing for the school.
That’s the reason that I wait for the school performance. It’s a joy to see the band so relaxed and happy as they play.
Great job, bands! Merry Christmas to you all.
