At this point in time, I’m think that Saturday is going to be my worst day of the week. As I try to recuperate from my kneecap fractures, it takes a lot out of me. I find that I have to prop my leg up often and that my body, working on repairing itself, is making me fatigued. (It might also be a product of my age mixed in with it as well, who knows.)
Anyway, most days I am back in the house by noon, having celebrated the morning Mass and doing a couple/few hours of office work. But Saturday? That’s different.
This morning, I had the 8:30 a.m. Mass and then a Pastoral Council Meeting. The meeting ended around 10:00 a.m. and then I plunged into office work until around 11:30 a.m. I went to the house to rest up know that the afternoon and evening were going to be demanding.
I heard confessions for nearly an hour and a half (with my leg drooping down all that time). When confessions were over, I went to my office, sat in my big, cushy recliner and propped the leg up. But then I was back on my feet for the 5:30 p.m. Mass. I locked the church up after the Mass and was making my way across the parking lot to the house close to 7:00 p.m.
And I’m pooped.
Thankfully, I have the later Masses tomorrow (the 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon) so I will be able sleep in, not having to wake up super early to unlock the church. A staff member does that the weekends that I don’t have the 6:30 and 8:00 a.m. Mass.
I’m going to have to be careful how I push myself on weekends. Hopefully, as I continue to improve/heal, this won’t be so much a necessity. But for now, I see the need for listening to my body and giving it the rest it clamors to receive.
That is all.
g’night
