I Like It When

I like it when I can make people laugh . . . even my doctor.

I had a checkup appointment this morning.  The doctor had ordered bloodwork prior to the checkup.  One was my a1c to keep an eye on my blood sugar.  The other was a urine test specifically to see if there was any diabetic changes happening to my kidneys.  The test can indicate very early kidney disease.

So, at the appointment, I opened by telling my doctor that he cost me a lot of money this week.  He looked up and said, “How?”  I told him that I was worried about what the results of the urine test would show so I had to pay big bucks to someone in the waiting room to fill my specimen cup for me.

He laughed.

That was a win for me.

Oh, and if you’re curious, the tests were good.  My a1c was acceptable (actually slightly lower than the one six months ago) and the urine test was very good.  He said that they want to see results under 30 and mine was 12.  Wonderful!

So, I see him again in six months.  And I have a year before I have to make up another specimen joke.  🙂
