There have definitely been a lot of lasts happening to me these weeks as I prepare to retire. For the record, my last day of active service to the Diocese of Gary is two weeks from today. On Tuesday, June 30th, I will have the 8:30 a.m. Mass and then, later that morning, the staff that is around will gather for a “final luncheon”. We’ll have time to share fellowship and food. When the lunch is finished, I’ll jump in my car and view the parish from my rearview mirror.
This afternoon was our last staff meeting. We have been meeting as a staff every two weeks. So today was the finale.
It’s kind of bittersweet each time a “last” comes up. But, you know what? I’m ready to begin the grand adventure called retirement.
