That Queasy Feeling

I’m starting to get that queasy feeling.  You know, the one you get when the world is on top of you and you do not know how you are going to get through it all.  That is how I feel every year at this time.

Our school year begins on August 15th, two weeks from Wednesday.  I should say that the school year begins for the students two weeks from Wednesday.  The faculty, on the other hand, come in next week already to prepare their rooms and to meet together for the beginning of the year in-services.

Of course, that means that we at the church and school building are in super-high-gear preparing the building to meet the teachers.  There are still floors that need to be waxed and rooms that need to be organized.  There are a thousand and one things that need to be readied for the faculty’s arrival.

To top that off, we have a new principal coming on board this year.  Even though she was a teacher here, becoming a principal is a new and stressful thing.  She will also be directing a number of new teachers this year as well.  We have a bit of a changeover last year with faculty retiring and/or leaving.  New faces + new year = new anxiety.  That’s the new math of the day. 🙂

By the way, to all of our faculty, staff, and students, I’m looking forward to seeing all of you and plunging into another year together.  Make the most of your last days of summer vacation and come back refreshed and renewed!
