Yep, it’s that time of year. There are booms going off all over the place as all the local communities begin celebrating the Fourth of July. For me, it’s more of a nuisance since I’ve been awake since 4:10 a.m. I had the 6:30 a.m. Mass and then went to a funeral in North Judson which was exactly an hour and a half away from my parish.
I got back early afternoon and went to breakfast/lunch/dinner around 3:00 p.m. That’s not really wise for anyone to do but even more dumb for someone who had diabetes. Oh well, I survived.
However, I cannot sleep because of the booming noises that should go on for at least another hour.
When I was young, I would be outside watching the skies while lighting off ground displays. As I got older, I would retreat from outside when the mosquitoes were bad and watch fireworks from my window or on television. Nowadays, I just try to go back to sleep. This getting older thing really changes a person. 🙂
Tomorrow is a holiday so our parish office is closed and the Pastoral Center is closed as well. I have the 9:00 a.m. Mass for the parish and then have a free day. I won’t know what to do with myself but I’ll find some way to be busy, I can practically guarantee that.
I hope you have a safe and enjoyable Fourth. I’m glad for those of you outside right now that the rain held off! Until tomorrow.
