I had a couple of meetings this morning at the Pastoral Center before our weekly 11:30 a.m. Mass. After Mass, I became the receptionist. Our receptionist was off sick today and the Pastoral Center staff was pitching in to cover time slots. The Noon to 1:00 p.m. slot was still open by 11:00 a.m., so, I pitched in.
I do that a lot at the parish as well. If the secretary needs to step out of the office, if the lunch relief does not show, or whatever, I often man the phones. Parishioners always get thrown for a loop when I’m the one answering. I think that’s a real hoot in and of itself since I’ve been doing this for sixteen years at the parish.
There were some people caught when I answered the phone at the Pastoral Center today as well. I just chuckled. I like helping out.
The day was a busy one but a good one. There are a lot of good people working at our Pastoral Center and I hope the diocese is as proud of them as I am.
