I was in Indianapolis today. I checked into the Courtyard Hotel on Washington Street around 2:00 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., I met with the bishops of the state of Indiana for our provincial meeting. We spoke with Bishop Kevin Rhoades via conference call and we all had our meeting which last a few hours. Afterwards, we went to dinner. This picture was taken after dinner at the Skyline Club.
I have to tell you, these past five-plus months, I have come to have a great deal of respect for the men who are the shepherds of the Catholics in Indiana. They are good, honorable men as well as men of deep faith and prayer. I will miss being associated with them once our new bishop takes charge.
Tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. we will celebrate Mass together and then have a brief breakfast followed by the Indiana Catholic Conference meeting. I should be on my way back home to Munster, by way of the Pastoral Center in Merrillville, shortly after noon.
