A hearty congratulations to our third graders who celebrated their First Confessions this morning.
I remember the fear that was often generated in us when we went to confession in my youth. I do my best to make the experience as relaxing and positive as it can be. I “work the crowd” beforehand in an effort to break the ice and help them with their nervousness. And I always try to get “child friendly” priests to hear their confessions.
In that regard, thank you to the priests who help Fr. Declan and me hear confessions this morning: Fr. Gregory Bim-Merle (associate pastor at St. James and Our Lady of Grace parishes in Highland), Fr. Marty Dobrzynski (pastor at St. Michael in Schererville), Fr. Ted Mauch (pastor at St. Joseph in Dyer), Fr. John Scott (retired), and Fr. Joseph Uko (residing at St. Ann in Black Oak and chaplain at Broadway Methodist Hospital in Merrillville).
Once again, Congratulations to our students!
