A Day Of Rest

This morning, the seminarians, Fr. Declan, and I prayed morning prayer together in our chapel at 9:00 a.m. and then, at 10:00 a.m., Fr. Declan celebrated Easter Mass and I concelebrated.  Last night I was the principal celebrant and Fr. Declan concelebrated.

When Mass finished, I spent a little more time in the church setting up for tomorrow morning’s Mass.  When I finished, I turned everything off and locked and alarmed the church.  I then went to my office and did a bit of office work (began working on next Sunday’s Pastor’s Page for the bulletin as well as the bulletin cover — I will finish those up tomorrow).

When I finished all of that, I came to the house, jumped in my car, and went hunting for lunch.  I planned on getting something at Strack & Van Til but they were closed so I went to Jewel.  When I got to Jewel, I had to queue in line because they were only letting so many people into the store at one time.  There were hash marks all over the floors to keep people six feet away from each other.  The aisles in the stores were all marked one way.  The hash marks and one ways generally were being ignored by most of the shoppers.  I went straight to the deli, found and purchased some stuffed cabbage, and went back to the rectory.

The news has conflicting stories on when the remain-in-place orders around the country will begin to be cancelled.  Some say a couple of weeks, others say a couple of months.  All I know is that my hair is getting really shaggy in the back.  I trimmed the top and sides of my head but cannot get the back.  The long hair is going to drive me crazy quicker than any other aspect of the stay-in-place.

I needed a laugh and was glad that I found the standard Easter laugh today.  I hope it brings a smile to your face as well.  It’s an oldie but a goodie. 🙂
