Anniversaries mark “progress” through the years.  Today, if my parents would be alive, they would be celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary.  When I was young, I never thought they were going to stay together.  Their marriage was often very rocky, largely because of my dad’s volatile moods and anger.  However, they stuck it out and had many years together.

To all who are married, I pray that God give you the grace to love one another and to work things out when you hit rough times.  To all whose marriages have ended, I pray for peace in your hearts and for no animosity between one another.  For those who may have lost a spouse to death, I pray that you may be consoled.

Happy Eightieth Anniversary, Mom and Dad.
