An OMG Day

I woke up this morning, went down for breakfast, and then returned to my room to back and prepare to leave.  They gave me a Noon checkout time instead of 11:00 a.m. because I requested it.  Nice of them!

When I got to the airport, I began to worry.  Southwest’s board was highlight a LOT of cancellations as well as delays.  My flight was one of the flights delayed because our plane was coming from Baltimore and they were having major storm disruptions there.

An hour before our delayed departure, they announced a gate change at the other end of the terminal.  We all made our way there, wondering if we were really going to take off.

Well, take off, we did.  An hour and a half late but took off nonetheless.

The flight was bumpy going out of Orlando and coming into Chicago because of weather systems.  Not terribly bouncy but enough to strap the cabin attendants into their seats for a while.

When we landed at Midway, we found out that we had no gate.  Because of the delayed flight, it conflicted with other jets at the gates.  We had to “drive” to the other side of the terminal buildings to wait for a gate to open.  Twenty-five minutes after landing, we headed for a gate.

I’m tired, I’m cold, and I’m just so happy to be home!
