Another Cruise In The Books

Got the airport in San Diego early this morning and waited for our flight.  About twenty minutes before boarding…

An alarm started going off in the terminal announcing an emergency. We would know more soon. That announcement went on continuously about ten minutes and then changed to “there’s a fire emergency in the building. Please evacuate.”

Are you kidding? Our plane was there and ready to board and no one in the terminal made a move to evacuate. After five minutes of the evacuation announcement, it shut off and we heard nothing rise.

No smoke. No firemen. No emergency personnel coming through and moving us out. Just an entire terminal of people looking around and refusing to leave.

I did the responsible thing, though. I boarded the plane. 🙂

The captain said it was going to be a bumpy ride the first hour and a half or so. I thought, “Eh, we’ll see.  Just get me home tonight. Sleep in tomorrow. Laundry on Tuesday. Get things ready to pack up again as I leave Friday for Miami. Nobody’s keeping this retired guy down.

Six minutes. That’s how short the time was that the seatbelt sign off was off. The rest of the flight was turbulent. The cabin crew even had to be seated several times.

But, we made it in one piece. I just got back to the condo. Going to unpack, not set the alarm, and hit the sack.

It was a great week.

g’night
