Last night, the captain informed us around dinnertime that we were going to be cruising into “some weather” and the seas might get high. Yeah. We had some weather, all right. In the middle of the night, the ship was really moving. I know it because I felt it. The rocking didn’t get me up, my stupid bladder did. 😮
This morning, there were people commenting about how rough it had gotten last night. I thought to myself, “Meh. You should be used to that if you cruise often.” But I had some suspicions about something that might come up.
At breakfast, the captain got on the intercom and began by apologizing. I thought, “Here it comes.” The tropical storm from last night had generated higher than expected seas and you could see that it was a bit rough out there, especially since we would be using tender boats to get to the pier ashore. The captain continued his announcement and informed us that the tropical storm had necessitated that the port be closed to all traffic.
I thought that the captain was probably relieved to know that the authorities closed the pier rather than having him make the decisions not to run tender service because I didn’t think it would be safe to do so.
After the announcement, the ship started up to speed again, turned away from Cabo, and we have had a sea day.
So this is the closest we got to Cabo today.

I’m sure the cruise line won’t complain because a lot of the money that would have been spent at port probably got dropped in the casino and on board shops.
Oh, yes. When I went to the Windjammer (the buffet) for breakfast, it had transformed overnight.

The skies have been absolutely beautiful all day accompanied by a wonderful breeze!

I did have to chuckle this afternoon, though. There have been many passengers complaining about the loss of the port today. Hey, we can’t control weather, especially when cruising! To rub salt in their wounds, the Royal Caribbean app began sending push notifications from 3:00 p.m. on that it was getting close to boarding time and not to be late to board the ship. Too funny.
I’m still on a high from booking my 2028 Transatlantic from Copenhagen last night. My travel agent has verified that she has control of the reservation and already prepaid gratuities and purchased Royal’s travel insurance. Some friends are giving me tips on places to stay and/or visit while there. It’s two years away and I’m getting so excited.
I skipped the show tonight. Last night, it was the musicians and singers of the ship in concert. I left half way through because the sound it set so loud. It was hurting my ears. Tonight’s show was supposed to be the musicians, singers, and dancers. As good as they are, it’s not worth the headache or the ear damage. (I guess I’m getting old. 🙂 )
