I guess it’s always nice to have something to look forward to; however, we must use caution lest we look too far ahead.
Case in point, I can say that in a little over four months, I will be getting ready for my annual Disney vacation. But, if I go one month more, I would have to say that in five months I will have returned from my vacation.
I haven’t even been there yet and am already lamenting the fact that I had to come back home. 🙂
This is the time of year, though, that I usually look ahead to a little R&R. This summer has been a tough one, especially with our renovation project. Things have been moving along but not always as smoothly as I would like. Projects such as ours never run smoothly. Renovating an old building, or a few old buildings such as ours, always has surprises waiting in the walls and floors and attics and basements.
All told, though, the project has been on schedule. Next week they will be performing their checklist repairs and we will be ready to welcome the teachers back the week after that and our students the last week of August.
In October, I look forward to attending the annual Knights of the Holy Sepulchre conference. That will be a Wednesday through Monday in Indianapolis.
A few weeks after that, in November, I will go on my annual one week vacation. I usually go on a cruise around my birthday. Because of the shape of the ship I usually go on though, I decided to cancel my November cruise (they will be putting the ship into dry dock in December and totally refurbishing her) and opted, instead, for a week at Disney. I will leave Sunday after my Masses and come back Friday evening. I will be staying at the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace in Downtown Disney or, as they call it now, Disney Springs.
Then, in January, I can go on my annual twelve day vacation to Disney where I will spend time at Disney’s Boardwalk Villas. That is my vacation timeshare and I really enjoy staying there.
However, before I can look ahead, I have to pay attention to all the details of what is happening at the parish right now. This renovation project is massive and we are hustling to make sure that we are ready for the teachers and the students by the end of the month. Fingers crossed!
