There has been a lot of chatter among those of us going on the transatlantic cruise on Symphony of the Seas in September/October 2018. It appears that Royal Caribbean has added an additional port to our cruise. It is on our second to last day. We will be docked at Port Canaveral from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on that day. However, since that is our first port in the states since leaving Europe, everyone on board will have to go through customs before the ship can be cleared for anyone to get off.
That could make for a messy port day. Some people might want to book a shore excursion for Disney, though, in my opinion, that would be an incredible waste of money since we depart at 5:00 p.m. and travel time in good traffic is an hour each way to/from Orlando.
I know that there is still plenty of time to plan. I think I am probably going to consider a shore excursion to Kennedy Space Center or an air boat tour. Or, I might be able to rendezvous with some friends and eat lunch at one of the local seafood restaurants. There are most certainly plenty of possibilities. It just gives me another thing to plan these next several months!
I went to the bank today and picked up the euro that I ordered for next year’s trip. I will need euro for my taxi ride in Barcelona as well as for dinner the evening that I arrive. I will need euro for any incidental expenses/shopping that I do in Barcelona. And I will need euro for our port of call to Malaga, Spain.
318 days. Not like anyone’s counting or anything. 🙂
