Yes, I should have been serious earlier this evening because I was a neighboring parish to help with their penance service. However, all seriousness left my body the moment that the musician announced that the entrance hymn was going to be number six hundred and sixty-six.
I turned to the pastor and said, “Really? Let’s open a penance service up with 666?” However, I said it a bit louder than I thought I did and some of the people in the back pews heard me and began laughing. So, there we were, giggling about the number of the entrance hymn.
What do I do about that? Am I going to have to go to confession and say that I caused people to laugh in preparation for confession because of the number of the entrance hymn? I think not. 🙂
