This morning, we found ourselves coming in to Nassau. For many, this was a real surprise since we had heard that storms may be in the area and the winds might keep us away as they did yesterday to some larger ships. Nope. The weather was perfect and we made it in on our scheduled time.
When I got off the ship and walked the pier, I turned around to get a picture of the beast that I have been sailing on for the past two weeks. 🙂
In the newly refurbished port there is an area labeled Junkanoo. Do YOU Junkanoo? I do.
I went to Mortimer’s Candies, as I usually do every time that I come to Nassau. Mortimer’s is a locally owed candy store that makes their own delectables for sale. I always purchase a lot and divide the up for my stateroom attendant, head waiter, waiter and assistant waiter. They always enjoy the treats and I feel good about supporting the local economy.
By the way, if you are ever unsure if you are in Nassau, just look at the water. It’s unmistakable turquoise cannot be repeated anywhere else.
So, after a day at Nassau, we headed out for our last night onboard. Tomorrow we will go to Fort Lauderdale and disembark. I’ve already checked in on line for my flight home on Southwest Airlines. I’ve packed my suitcase and placed it outside my stateroom door. All I have to do is hit the sack.
g’night
