Today was “one of those days” — and a very long one at that!
I woke up at 4:00 a.m. to hit the day. I celebrated the 6:30 and 8:00 a.m. Masses. Afterwards, I was scheduled to be picked up and taken to Midway Airport to begin my vacation.
After the 6:30 a.m. Mass, I set up for the 8:00 a.m. and then went into my office. On my phone was a text from Southwest Airlines that my flight to Orlando was cancelled. To be honest, I was half expecting that. When I was going to open the church this morning, it was so foggy you couldn’t see much of anything.
The fog, and several storm fronts, severely interrupted airline travel today.
I was able to call and reschedule my flight for 4:45 p.m. and was also able to get a hold of the driver who was picking me up and reschedule a pickup for 12:30 p.m.
When I got to the airport, there were many cancellations and delays. My 4:45 p.m. flight began to get delayed as well and, for a while, I thought we were not going to take off. Finally, at 6:20 p.m., we took off from Midway and landed in Orlando at 9:30 p.m.
A good friend picked me up at Orlando Airport and brought me to the hotel that I am staying at this week: the Hilton Buena Vista Palace, across the street from Disney Springs.
I plan to check the place out tomorrow. I am on the twentieth floor (twenty-seven floors to this place) and have a view of EPCOT.
Right now, I’m going to collapse in bed and sleep, sleep, sleep. No alarm set. I’ll wake up when I get enough sleep.
g’night, all…
