This morning dawned bright and early. I was up at 4:00 a.m. and at the church at 5:00 a.m. After opening the chapel and setting up for Mass, I went to my office and began working.
After the 6:30 a.m. Mass, I went to Strack and Van Til in Munster to purchase pop. Since the festival, our pop supplies had seriously dwindled. I had to go to replenish our stock. $138 dollar’s worth of pop later, I was on my way back to the parish.
I returned around 7:30 a.m. and unloaded the car. I could not believe how hot it had already become. Hot and humid. By the time I unloaded all the pop, I was drenched in sweat. I went into my office and did some work at my desk with a fan blowing on me.
Around Noon, I met my sister-in-law for lunch and, afterwards, we went to visit my aunt who is in hospice. She was having a particularly bad day (her third in a row). I just feel so bad for her. She’s chronically exhausted because of her low oxygen level in her blood. But, she was happy to see my sister-in-law again.
When I got back to the parish, the weather was changing. From hot and humid, it began to cool off and get darker. The afternoon ushered in rain and intermittent lightning. The weather today has been a serving of a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Just like a weather buffet!
But, I am sure that the ground appreciates the water. It’s been a bit dry lately!
