For five months, we were waiting for the announcement of a new bishop for the Diocese of Gary. It was only a tedious wait, as far as I am concerned, since we lost our former bishop to a transfer. He went to Madison, Wisconsin as the new bishop. While we were surprised at his transfer, we had him available to consult if needed.
I feel for the people of the Diocese of Duluth, MN. Their bishop, Paul Sirba, passed away suddenly this morning from a massive heart attack at age 59. The Gospel reminded us at Masses this weekend that “you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
Give eternal rest to Bishop Sirba, O Lord, and grant consolation to the grieving people of Duluth.
