A few months ago, I was looking forward to going on my annual vacation to Walt Disney World in Florida; but, it felt like it would never arrive. Now, it is only a couple of days away and I wonder if I’m going to be ready.
I have a checklist of things that need to be accomplished before I can leave. It seems that every time I check something off of the list, I add one or two more things to the list. How does that even happen? How did the time sneak up on me? Will I be ready?
You bet your sweet bippy I will be ready! And, if you recognize that phrase, you’re as old as I am. (I loved Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In!)
I’m applying updates to my lap top and have to do some shopping tomorrow for some over-the-counter stuff to take with me. I go to the Pastoral Center tomorrow morning after the 8:30 a.m. Mass here and will come home in the afternoon. I will do laundry tomorrow afternoon/evening and be ready to pack on Saturday.
Saturday morning, I have a funeral. In the afternoon, I have confessions. I have the 5:30 p.m. Mass and afterwards will pack my bags. On Sunday, I will celebrate the 6:30 and 8:00 a.m. Masses and then wait for my 9:00 a.m. ride to the airport. When I get to the Orlando Airport, a friend will pick me up. We will go to check into Disney’s Boardwalk Villas and then go out to shop for groceries. On Monday, Fr. Brian will come in and join us and we will be on our way to relaxation, relaxation, relaxation. And, oh yes, did I mention relaxation?
Somehow you will be ready! (Prayers, prayers…). So I wish you a wonderful time at Disney… and that it will be all you need it to be. You will be missed by many, but for you, it will be worth whatever we need to experience. And then… viola… you will come home all relaxed and ready for the days ahead. Remember… we will finally have a new Bishop! (and at least half of your work will be relieved! God Bless!
