I hate writing these types of messages. However, someone is at it again.
A couple of days ago, someone cloned my Instagram account trying to get people to send them money. Now, today, I am hearing that an email in my name is circulating requesting help.
First of all, if I ever send an official email, it comes from the parish address and not some made up gmail account (or other account servers). Second, I would NEVER send an email asking for money or gift cards.
Sadly, ministers often fall prey to these scams because their people are generous and want to help and often do help without thinking, thus rewarding the person perpetrating the fraud.
Don’t be duped. If you receive an email from “me” asking for help of any financial nature, it’s most assuredly not me.
