Well, yesterday was the final day of nineteen years at the parish as pastor. Today, I begin year twenty. 🙂 Weo. I can’t believe how much time has elapsed since I arrived here as the new pastor on July 1st of 2003. Nineteen years. Takes my breath away.
Unless something comes up and the diocese needs me elsewhere, I will most likely be here for my remaining four years before I retire. After so many years in the priesthood (39 years already!), I’m really looking forward to being able to retire and leave the responsibilities of administration behind.
Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy my job and am proud that the diocese feels I am a good fit here at the parish. But I’m not the young person I used to be. Still, I’ll give it my all for as long as I need to do so.
On a totally unrelated note, this is the time of the year for it. Probably happens more times than we care to think. 🙂
