This morning was my typical. I really enjoy beginning the day with Mass. And I have to admit that I enjoy attending Mass instead of necessarily celebrating it. (As long as the celebrant is “good” and the priest on board our transatlantic is good.)
At lunchtime, I went up to the Windjammer to fill my soda glass with my Cherry Coke Zero. I also looked around to see what they were serving but had decided that I wasn’t going to have anything because I had a big dinner in store. While I walked around, I saw that they set up a special dessert station this afternoon. Usually, there are lots of varieties of things to have for dessert and today was no different. However, the different part was the special cakes that they were slicing for people who wanted a a piece.
As I said, though, I held back — as tempted as I was — because of my promised dinner. This was actually a first for me. I am generally friendly with the crew and when I went to Malaga and Cadiz, I bought lots of candies to give them throughout the cruise. I give them to my cabin attendant, table waiters, and head waiter. The head waiter thanked me a couple of days ago and told me that, any evening I wanted, I could select something from the “premium” area of the menu on the house.
So, tonight, I had a cheese plate for an appetizer and then Chops Grille’s filet mignon (rare, of course) with mashed potato, asparagus, and broccoli. It was cooked to perfection! Yum.
After dinner, I sat out on my balcony while the ship was dead stopped. We had a medical evacuation outside of Bermuda and waited as the medical team transported the patient to shore and then returned to the ship. We got back underway around 8:00 p.m. You can see Bermuda off in the distance at the front of the ship.
By the way, when I got back from dinner, I found my certificate for the transatlantic crossing on my bed. Royal Caribbean usually does these for all transatlantic crossings. They’re the only time I’ve ever received them.
8:00 p.m. was the time for the evening show but I decided to skip it. It was the Las Vegas Tenors and even though they are good, they are way too loud for me. They really like the speakers cranked up for them. The last time I saw them, my ears hurt for a few hours afterwards. I wasn’t up for that again.
There are too more full days to this cruise and I am going to enjoy each day to its fullest. Then, when I return home Saturday evening, I will begin preparing for my next cruise. I’ve got a “few” coming up:
