Yesterday, I got off on a tangent about how my day went unexpected like. But the day before, I mentioned that I was going to share something about my cruise. So, let me do that today.
I don’t think I shared this in my blog yet, I know that I did in texts to friends while on the cruise. This cruise was unlike any other that I have taken. I told my friends that this was “the first cruise that I enjoyed.” They all laughed at that statement. But, let me clarify.
This truly was the first cruise that I enjoyed to the level that I did and that was all due, in my opinion, to my retirement. You see, any other cruise or vacation, about halfway through, I would begin to think about what was waiting for me back at work. So the vacation/cruise would end up being a bit stressful anticipating the work upon my return.
This past cruise? Not so. Not so at all.
My retirement has changed all of that. There are no meetings, no projects, nothing due upon arrival. The time is all mine and doesn’t belong to any employer or any parishioner or anyone else.
That was truly freeing and something that I have never experienced before. If this is what retirement is all about, I’m all in! 🙂
