2026 Transatlantic Cruise – Day Six

Today has been remarkably relaxing.  I slept really good last night although I got to bed later than I had planned.  (Must have been that afternoon nap that got in the way.)

Needless to say, when I awoke, I decided to go back to sleep “a little longer”. That little longer turned longer than I expected and it messed with my attendance for Mass.  To be fair, I -could- have made it.  I had about ten minutes, if I scrambled, to get there for Mass.  But I don’t like doing that.  I like getting to Mass a half hour before and centering myself in prayer.  It doesn’t feel right to me to just rush in.  I’m not in the proper frame of mind for Mass when I do that.

So I slow-walked my way to a leisurely breakfast and spent time on my balcony reading, praying, and reflecting.  It wasn’t Mass, but it was time with God.  That matters.

After dinner, I went to the theater for the comedian.  Meh.  Some people laughed.  To me, he just wasn’t hitting it.  He indicated that he had just got on board yesterday and I thought to myself “jetlag”.  He wasn’t hitting on all cylinders.  That happens.

I shared this on Facebook earlier today and thought I would put this here as well because it speaks a lot about “where I am” at the present moment:

Someone asked me, “By the end of the crossing, how will you feel?”

By the end of the crossing, how will I feel? Ready for another cruise, that’s how I’ll feel. 🙂

I truly do love going on cruises. This is the first time, though, that I have gone on a cruise being retired. It’s a HUGE difference.

On cruises in the past, I’ve enjoyed them but there was always that “something” in the back of my mind that reminded me that I was going to have all sorts of work to attend to when I got back to the parish.

Now? I’ve got nothing to attend to. No work. No responsibility. It’s really freeing and has changed the tone of this cruise. I can’t put into words how good that feels.

So now, I’m going to hit the post button and get ready for bed.  Catch ya tomorrow.
